ESRC/JISC CENSUS OF
POPULATION PROGRAMME

This programme supplies academic users (researchers, teachers and students) with computer readable data from the UK Censuses of Population. The pages are organized into four lists.  The first list provides information about the decennial census of population, the structure of the ESRC/JISC programme that delivers census data and a set of summary tables that point from a topic, geography and coverage requirement to particular data sets and where to go to get access.  The second list of pages gives a short description of each of the main data sets and access information. Use this list when you know what kind of data fits your needs. The third list provides contact information for each of the organizations particpating in the ESRC/JISC Census Programme. The fourth list contains information on preparations for the next Census of Population, to be held on the 29th April, 2001. The contents of these pages will be updated frequently over the 1999-2002 period.  Please contact the Programme Co-ordinator, Phil Rees (p.rees@geog.leeds.ac.uk) if you want further information.
