SAMPLES OF ANONYMISED RECORDS (SARS)
-
A key innovation in the 1991 Census was the publication of public use microdata,
a 1% Household SAR and a 2% individual SAR. Using microdata researchers
can carry out tailored tabulation or statistical analysis.

See for an example of use the chapter "Education and occupational attainments:
the impact of ethnic origins" in ONS’s Ethnicity in the 1991 Census,
Volume Four (TSO, London) by Anthony Heath (Oxford) and Dorren
McMahon (UC, Dublin). Their findings suggest that British society is failing
to deliver colour-blind equality of opportunity for the second generation
of ethnic minorities.
