This page summarizes the contents of a document consult.doc which contains a response, prepared on behalf of ESRC/JISC, to the recent 2001 Census Consultation undertaken by the Census Offices.
During April 1999 the Census Offices toured the country presenting their plans for producing statistics from the 2001 Census of Population. A very full set of documents was provided for the Census Roadshows. These can be obtained by emailing customer.services@ons.gov.uk.
User organizations have been asked to answer a detailed questionnaire about data needs and to comment on the proposals. Response have been compiled on behalf of ESRC/JISC and returned for the due dates of the 4th and 11th June 1999. I have stressed that the response is provisional for several reasons.

These tables are the most detailed tables produced from the 2001 Census and will be published for England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the United Kingdom. The topic tables may be produced for GORs in England (which are comparable in size to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland). They may contain CD ROMs with Standard tables for units smaller than countries and GORs. |
