    • Introduction
      • Marjorie Wilson
      • In order to get ranked in the top 50 universities in the world we need to not only be good, but we need to have external organisations understand that.

      • Tyndale centre at Unversity of East Anglia.
      • Much experience from other universities in the room.
    • Is "The Environment Institute at Leeds" a better name than "environment@leeds"?
    • Do we need another "Institute"?
      • Does this cause problems of allegence?
      • Need a physical existance?
      • The overlapping array of institutes and centres and clusters and schools at the UOL is recognised as a good thing.
    • Umbrellar Organisation Diagram Being Drawnn on a white board :-)
    • Important for an external face
      • Is this really a marketting exercise or is the plan for us to work together in a collaborative eScience way?
    • I tried to start a conversation about making use of e-Science National Institutes and their Collaborative Working Environments or Virtual Research Environments

      • There was a worry about losing "our badge" in this:
        • I don't think this is a well founded concern:
          • Consider for example a list of the top 10 experts in some search:
            • Surely it would be a good thing if many of these were ours - this would raise our profile, our badge would be there!
      • Policy
      • WUN
      • Need for a leader?
        • The noisey people think this is vital!
        • I would suggest a leaderless allocracy, but things should go this way if we embrace a good CWE.
        • Suggested leaders:
          • Alan Haywood
      • Need for a committee.
      • Do we have a collective will?
        • It seems that there is such an elephant in the room ;-)
        • It seems there is agreement that we should make use of a VRE.
        • The nominated leader (Alan Haywood) is to be asked to set up the organisation :-)
          • I hope this democratic process leads us to a desireable allocracy...
