  • Introduction

    • About Blogging
      • Blogging is perhaps more of a means to an end, than an end in itself.
      • If you want to start developing web content such as that distilled on themed pages, a blog might be a useful start point...
      • Information development and management is cruicial to our future collaboration and well being...
      • The usual format of a blog is a reverse chronology of information published on the World Wide Web...
    • About This Blog
      • Sometimes I revisit the archive and distill information sometimes removing the full details from the blog and leaving a link to the updated infroamtion in its place. In this way I hope that the information can be more reliably referenced and more easily found. I make an effort to version all my web content to also help with referencing and improving reliability. This information is generally displayed at the bottom of the web content as rendered in a browser.
      • Over time this blog is becoming more informative as I become more networked, skilled and generally experienced in what I do... In practicing blogging, I should also become better at it!
      • Primarily this blog has been for managing my work and its related information development. Hopefully it can help you too.
      • Sometimes anecdote creeps into my writing, and my own views, biases and opinions are expressed. These are my own views and do not necessarily reflect those of the organisations I work for. I hope that my personal remarks do not cause offence. If you take exception to something in my blog, then please kindly feedback and I will try to make ammends.
    • Other Blogs
      • In 2008 I started blogging using via the NCeSS Sakai Portal. This platform allowed me to blog more readily wherever I had an internet connection and I tended to use it whilst working out of office at meetings and events. The URL for this blog is as follows:
        • Unfortunately owing to an issue at the host organisation there is currently a need to stipulate port 8080 in URLs which has left many things horribly broken
          • http://portal.ncess.ac.uk:8080/access/wiki/site/~a.g.d.turner@leeds.ac.uk/blog.html
      • The University of Leeds has set up a system for me to blog with too, but I am not sure how best to make use of this. The URL for my blog on this system is
        • https://elgg.leeds.ac.uk/geoagdt/weblog/
      • Microblogging
        • I have accounts on both identi.ca and Twitter, respectively
          • http://identi.ca/agdturner
      • I used to read some blogs on an irregular basis and keep a list of those I would return to periodically on my Reading Web Page. The so-called BlogRoll is still part of this page and should be accessible via the following URL:
      • (Since 2010 I have been directed to a lot of documentation via social networking platforms and the all important World Wide Web search engines.)
