Project title

Harnessing Social Media Data to Explore Tourist Shopping Patterns in London

My research aims to use LBSN data to explore the spatiotemporal distribution of tourist retail activity in London and generate a tourist retail demand layer at the small-area level. The research considers both the demand side and supply side of tourist retail activity. On the demand side, small-area tourist flows and their geodemographic characteristics generated from LBSN data will be examined as indicators of tourist retail demand. On the supply side, the research will measure the attractiveness of different types of shopping venues by their popularity, accessibility, and spatial interaction with other tourist attractions based on informative LBSN data.
