I am leading WP6 "Ecosystem Modelling" in Horizon 2020 funded ECOPOTENTIAL - Ecosystem Benefits Through Earth Observations. This large (15m EUR) project aims to improve the utilization of existing and upocoming earth observation data for monitoring protected areas status, and ecosystem functions and services derived from these areas. ECOPOTENTIAL will run between 6/2015 until mid 2019.

I am Co-PI of ADVENT - ADdressing Valuation of Energy and Nature Together. This NERC funded project (under the Valuaing Nature in Low Carbon Energy Pathways programme) will look at the ecological and societal contraints for developing low-carbon energy technologies at the UK, and the local and global impacts of these pathways. ADVENT will run between 6/2015 and mid 2020.

I am the PI for Nexus-Brexit, a phase 1 networking grant awarded by the Nexus Network, a 3 year ESRC initative. This project will develop scenarios and narratives on the impacts of UK exit from the EU on water-food-energy systems, and explore risks and opportunities in either alterative of the EU Referendum. I lead a two year collaborative research programme FAWKES - Facilitated WorKshops on Ecosystem Services, joint with UFZ Helmholtz Research School for Ecosystem Services under Changing Landuse and Climate (ESCALATE). During academic year 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 FAWKES will have two international and interdisciplinary teams of PhD students from Leeds and UFZ conduct a joint research project related to ecosystem services. This programme is supported by an International Research Collaboration Award from the UoL International Office. See project page for details.

I have a Royal Society International Excahnge award with Britaldo Soares-Filho from UFMG, Brazil, to look at the impacts of land use change in Brazil. This award runs 3/2014-3/2016.

I am a C-I in C-VORR project - Complex Value Optimisation for Resource Recovery from Waste. C-VORR aims to builds methods and tools to better design a circular economy accounting for the economic, technologic, ecological and social value streams in secondary materials. C-VORR started in 8/2014 and will run till mid 2017. See project page for details.

I have a subaward from Stanford University and Ohio State on a NSF funded project on Techno-Ecological Synergy, where we explore innovative frameworks to improve deisgn on industrial systems by integrating ecosystem approach at multiple spatial scales.
