Research overview

I am Pro-Dean for Research for the Faculty of Environment and Director of water@leeds. I am also Chair in Physical Geography.

In my research I seek to understand the processes associated with the hydrology and carbon dynamics of peatlands under environmental change. I also seek to understand how land management, including agriculture, impacts flowpaths through soils and into watercourses.

My main interests involve the study of hillslope hydrology, wetland environments and catchment management. Current work focuses on peatland hydrology and carbon cycling, bog pools, agricultural impacts on soil water, climate change and flooding. I currently have £9 million of active grants on which I am a named investigator.

I am a Chartered Geographer, Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society. I am currently a Core member of the NERC Peer Review College.

Follow my latest publication releases and grant information on twitter at: http://twitter.com/geojho*
