Contested cities
From October 2012. Contested Cities is a staff and postgraduate mobility network between Europe and Latin America funded under the IRSES scheme of the EU FP7.  Autonomous University of Madrid will be the lead partner with University of Leeds as co-coordinators and universities in Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico as partners in third countries. The theme of the project is Contested Spatialities of Urban Neoliberalism: Dialogues between Emerging Spaces of Citizenship in Europe and Latin America

Uneven local responses to the global recession. Leverhulme International Network
2010-2015 This is a 3 year international network funded by the Leverhulme Trust to analyse the impacts of the global financial crisis in European Cities. It is hosted by the School of Geography, University of Leeds (Principal Investigator Sara Gonzalez) and involves colleagues from University of Antwerp (Stijn Oosterlynck), Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Ramon Ribera Fumaz), University of Turin (Ugo Rossi) and Aberystwyth University (Martin Jones). It funds workshops and fieldtrip visits where researchers will study four case studies (Leeds, Barcelona, Brussels and Cagliari) to develop a comparative methodology to understand changes in the variegated nature of neoliberal urbanism.
