Project title

The Analyzing of the Construction of Political Field of Armenia and of the Armenian Nationalism in the Context of Armenian Networks.

Project overview

The research project attempts to focus on the political networks and organization in Armenian diaspora in the United States, and their political projections regarding the political act repertoire of Armenia. The project intends to be able to present a new approach for the construction of the political zone of Armenia and for what Armenianness is by using the theoretical framework of Bourdieu. In the research, the role of the American Armenian diaspora and its political networks will be analysed in this construction process. By doing so, my research aims to tackle the organizing of the political field of Armenia as a struggle arena which is grounded by diasporic communities. Diaspora organizations come in on this arena as one each political actor with their political parties and pressure groups. By this way, it is possible to observe to what extent diaspora with these agents has power to affect the internal or foreign policy decision-making of the homeland. By doing so, this study motivates to rethink the configuration of the political formation of Armenia in line with political expectations and interest of the American Armenian diaspora.
