Skills and employability
Skills training is provided as an integral part of your studies. From level 1, you are given the opportunity to develop and learn IT skills, including GIS (Geographical Information Systems). Our first year undergraduates assemble a C&IT portfolio as part of the tutorial module which demonstrates competence in the use and presentation of IT software packages. All our students have regular opportunities to improve their oral and written presentation skills through assessed individual or team presentations, poster work, reports and portfolios. Significant emphasis is placed on teamwork, with opportunities at every stage of your degree to work in small groups, both to prepare group assessments, and to provide peer support. In addition, as a Leeds geographer you will develop report writing skills; numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills, and time management skills. To find out more click here.
