NERC DOCTORAL TRAINING STUDENTSHIPS
The School receives funding for several PhD studentships each year from NERC and awards these to the strongest applicants following interview. Applications are now invited for the projects below for study commencing 1 October 2012. NERC studentships cover the cost of fees at the UK/EU rate and a tax-free maintenance grant of approximately £13,590 per year (2011/12 rate) as well as appropriate expenses associated with the research.
Eligibilty
UK citizens and EU citizens who have been resident in the UK for three years prior to commencing postgraduate studies are eligible for a full award (ie. fees and maintenance). A miniumum of a high 2(i) undergraduate degree in a related discipline is required. Students who expected to graduate with a high 2(i) or above in summer 2012 are also eligible to apply.
How to Apply
Please submit an online application for PhD study (including all supporting documents and references) by 13 February 2012. Applications will then be shortlisted and interviews held in late February. Please note that there is no separate application form for NERC funding. You should indicate on your PhD application form under “Finance” that you wish to be considered for a NERC studentship.
