Summary:
The overall aim was to increase the use of migration and commuting interaction data sets to be produced as outputs from the 2001 Census of Population. This was done by developing a Web based, user friendly, interactive query interface so as to make data extraction as simple and painless as possible and facilitate data analysis and display. Key objectives were:
- To provide users with access to the 2001 interaction data (SMS and SWS/SCS) via the internet.
- To develop a software interface that allows users to construct queries and extract data quickly and easily from both standard and bespoke tables.
- To generate a library of popular subsets of data that can be downloaded without the need to build queries.
- To provide access to interaction data sets from previous censuses
- To provide a number of options for data, display and output.
