Summary:

Monitoring different grip blocking techniques

This project examines the response of peatlands in the Forest of Bowland to drain blocking. A range of blocking techniques have been adopted including heather bails, plastic piling and peat dams. These are being evaluated in light of hydrological and water discolouration data being collected from the Whitendale catchment. We have a postdoctoral research assistant (Alona Armstrong) working on the project.
