Environmental Criminology attempts to understand crime by looking at the areas where it occurs; for example, we are currently trying to understand the kinds of areas susceptible to car crime in Saudi Arabia, a country with a culture very different from those where environmental criminology is usually applied. Equally, we're trying to understand how communities in the UK can have a large effect on the amount and type of crime within them.
