from the nearest international airport. The view above shows a classification
of these distance values also created using ArcView.

Comments
-
Large population densities are generally found nearby international airports.
-
Distance from local airports was also considered as a data layer although
at present this has not been included. The reason for this was that strong
evidence of a major difference in definition of local airport across Europe
existed. It is hoped that models developed in the future should be able
to cope with regional variations in the classification of geographical
features in the source data and that local airports may be included in
this layer.
-
Transport infrastructure data layers are likely to be good indicators of
where many people live.
