Present day maximum monthly
The image is a classified interpolated temperature surface created from
the source data using ArcView.
Source data=CRU monthly temperature
The hot areas of this map correspond closely to those of minimum temperature
although there are subtle variations. The really hot areas maybe too hot
for quite a long period in the summer creating dangers of fire, salination
and wind erosion.
It may be useful to combine temperature and precipitation data to create
a surface which indicates the danger posed by summer drought.
The nature of the growing seasons effects landuse classification especially
where double and tripple cropping occurs.
