Preparation
- Suggested HR Manager brief my next Reviewer regarding my Staff Review Meeting on 2006-05-17
- This has happened and the HR Manager has also informed my Staff Manager
- Asked for clarification from HR about how confidential information about my last review needs to be kept
- "If you wish to update the details of your review onto the web this is your choice, but I would suggest you made the details anonymous."
- This has helped give me confidence that I can disclose the details of my Staff Review meetings without needing to refer to my Reviewers
- I am still troubled by the difference between the Reviewee and Reviewer version of events of my Staff Review on 2006-05-17
- I still think the conduct of the Reviewer at my Staff Review on 2006-05-17 was far below the standard I had come to expect. I wonder if the Reviewer had undertaken any Management training as to how to conduct a Staff Review and if so why procedure was not followed
- Re-read Preperation from Andy Turner's Staff Review 2006-05-17 Page
- Re-read:
- Compared Research Grade 7 Role Draft Specification Document and Research Grade 8 Role Draft Specification Document
- At Grade 8
- It is expected that all roles will contribute to the broader strategic development of significant parts of the University either by providing advice and guidance or managing significant operations
- Teaching and Learning Support becomes a requirement
- Thinking needs to be more interdisciplinary and taking account of the nature of other disciplins
- Higher level of decision making effecting long-term strategic plans of the School/Faculty/Service
- More responsibility in the planning and management of resources and the effects of the work environemnt and safety of other people
- This has confirmed that this is where I want to head, but I appreciate I should be at Grade 7 for a while yet although looking to move on...
- Communication with Reviewer
- Telephone conversation with Reviewer (initiated by Reviewer)
- Meeting to start at 11:30
- Mentioned emails with Louise and pre-setting an agenda
- Reviewer was under impression that A Section of Andy Turner's Staff Review Form 2005-04-19 Version 0.1 (form prior to Staff Review meeting on 2006-05-17) should form basis of agenda
- Reviewee mentioned documentation that I would bring along and hope that this could form part of the agenda
- Reviewer requested that I not bring my laptop
- Emailed URL for this document to Reviewer
- Encouraged Reviewer to read this section prior to meeting
- Explained that I will bring along my laptop and that I'm not clear why I was asked not to
- Asked if I could use a dictaphone to record the meeting
- Reviewer made it clear that a laptop or dictaphone are not wanted and that the discussion will be private and advice will be writen up afterwards by Reviewer
- I'm feeling like this Staff Review is going to go a lot better than my last one!
- Printed out documentation to take along on paper
Meeting Notes
- Fantastic! What a great review :)
- I am concerned about the release of information from my previous review, so perhaps need to do something about this pronto...
- Need to find time this afternoon to write a list summarising achievements over the last 24 months and send to Reviewer. This is to be incorporated into the Review documentation to be circulated to my Staff Manager, HR manager and the Head of School
