This is a record of a telecon held today between 1400 and 1440. Present: Andy Turner (AT), Michael Koutroumpas (MK), Chris Higgins (CH), Dave Rawnsley (DR), Gail Millin (GM), Paul Townend (PT), Pascal Ekin (PE), Ally Hume (AH) Apologies: Keith Cole (KC), John Watt (JW) CH began by explaining the reason Peter Schut had not been contacted was primarily down to licencing, ie, we cant advertise applications, even demos on restricted areas off restricted sites, that use licenced data. MK has changed the GLS back to pointing at Canadian data. Action: PT to switch the GLS client to Canadian Data. This also means we cannot advertise the GDAS. The agreed SEE-GEO approach to interoperability testing with the other IE participants is to use the Canadian data services or preferrably, other IE participants services. Action (ongoing): CH to mail Peter Schut PT/AT briefed on status of the GLS client. Problem with rendering the returned GML due to the non-existence of referenced xsd. Discussion of this reached the conclusion that effort should be concentrated by EDINA on creating a single master xsd that can be referenced in the returned GML and allow it to be rendered without additional, significant, work by Leeds on the client. Action: MK to create master (I just watched Dr Who) xsd and any other necessary changes. As always, liaise with Leeds. DR reported that MIMAS has added additional data for additional areas to the GDAS. Discussion concluded that we now had enough for testing purposes and the IE. Post IE, it would be advantageous to have additional data to meet the Leeds Use Case. DR agreed would revisit after the IE is completed. Action: MK to add the new data to the GLS. PT/AT reported that Junaid (MSC student available till end Aug) was liaising with JW to build security into the application. CH reminded people that SEE-GEO was about security and would move to the foreground when this IE is over. PE reported on his exploration of issues relating to automatically generating metadata from the census data for use by the GDAS. This is not straightforward and part of a more general and significant problem with census metadata. DR and AT in particular had discussion on this, DR mentioned another small project looking at this issue. Leeds and EDINA expressed support for getting this issue addressed as affects more than this project. CH requested that DR make note of these issues as they are worth highlighting when writing the IE and SEE-GEO up. Action: AT to inform Ken Miller of this issue as Ken is looking at grid enabling datasets under NCeSS e-Infrastructure project. Action: DR to make notes for inclusion in project reports Ongoing actions: Action: MK to distribute to All for comment details of the EDINA tests. There is interest in this and we may get some additional suggestions. Noted that this may be of particular interest to PE. Action: CH to synthesize security discussions and document. Action: CH to complete CA and circulate Action: AH to examine issues raised by PE in relation to OGSA-DAI performance and respond. Current status: Ongoing, will happen when OGSA-DAI team get next release out.
