This is a record of a telecon held today between 1400 and 1430. Present: Andy Turner (AT), Lihao Liang (LL), Michael Koutroumpas (MK), Pascal Ekin (PE), Chris Higgins (CH), John Watt (JW), Dave Rawnsley (DR), John Watt (JW), Gail Millin (GM) Apologies: Keith Cole (KC), Paul Townend (PT) MK reported that the GLS was effectively now deployed as a pre-release version. We have 1 framework dataset (WFS on top of national coverage UK Borders) and one statistical dataset. As we have now close to completion with the GLS, we are thinking more about testing and would appreciate additional datasets. MK requested that MIMAS supply: 1. Additional statistical data. AT reminded the meeting that Leeds had already requested additional health, household composition? and employment statistics. 2. For additional areas. DR suggested the Western Isles as single features have multiple geometries. Action: MIMAS to liaise and supply additional data for additional areas (another city and the Western Isles). Action: MK to distribute URL for GLS CH reported that Peter Schut had passed EDINA details of a Canadian WFS and GDAS serving up forestry related data. MK is now using this for development purposes and we will use it for testing. MK is now going to move onto developing a solution that processes SLDs and which can handle requests from the client to be able to switch framework datasets and GDAS on the fly. This will require close liaison with Leeds. Action: AT/PT/MK to keep in close communication over the next few weeks to make sure the GLS client gets developed in tandem with the server. The GDAS from MIMAS is now operational. DR pointed out that it was an older version, but that is all there is available at the moment as open source. This may cause some problems when interoperability testing with other IE participants components as they have developed against the latest version. MK is aware of this and has stubs in place. The GLS client has become the most critical component. The meeting agreed that a target of Fri 15th June was a reasonable date to complete development. Action: Leeds to complete the GLS in accordance with the requirements identified in the use case, security is out of scope though we will revisit when the IE is over. Action: CH to email geolinkie with 15th June as the date for development completion. Testing of components with other IE participants will follow afterwards. GDAS accessor is completed and working CH reported on OGF20 where the geolinking work was presented. One of the outcomes from the OGC OGF workshop is the possibility of an IE testing both OGF and OGC standards. This would possibly use a climate change scenario and test the standards across Grids located in different continents, ie, EGEE (Europe), Terragrid (US) and NAREGI (Japan). GM expressed interest in relation to GEMS2. If this does develop, then it will likely be discussed at the Paris TC in July and OGF21 in Seattle (Oct). Action: CH to make slides available There has been dialogue between CH, AH, JW, Richard Sinnott (RS) and Fiona Culloch on security considerations. CH will continue working on this in preparation for visiting NERC Data Grid to examine their approach to security on the 1st June with RS Action: CH to synthesize the discussion and document. PE raised the issue of needing to consider the approach being used by MIMAS in relation to GEMS2, although this is still at an early stage in development. CH mentioned that a follow on to the IE would likely see the modified version of OGSA-DAI being installed on the NGS. It might be an idea to arrange a SEE-GEO meeting in Edinburgh some time in June when PE is over in the UK. Action: CH to complete CA and circulate Action: AH to examine issues raised by PE in relation to OGSA-DAI performance and respond. CH concluded by reminding people to keep notes of their IE related experiences and be prepared to feed them into the write-up. An example cited was DRs observation of the difficulties that would be likley experienced in preparing metadata for the full range of census statistics. PE mentioned that their may be a way to simplify this and automatically generate the required file from a database. Action: PE to examine the potential for automatically generating GDAS metadata when over in June. Next meeting will be chaired on Fri 1st June 1400-1500 by AH as CH will be at NERC Data Grid
