An Ordnance Survey/EDINA supplied service There are limitations on the form and size of publication that can be made from the Data: ====================================================================== DATA Live Ordnance Survey vector data may not be included in any electronic publication or service whatsoever. PERMISSABLE PUBLICATIONS Map extracts from the Digimap service or images created at a subscribing FHEI from downloaded Ordnance Survey data may be included in the following documents subject to the conditions outlined below: - Conference papers prepared by staff or students from a subscribing FHEI, relating to Teaching, Academic Research or to Educational Research. - Academic articles included in a journal publication that will qualify for a Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) review. - Working papers and course notes prepared for use within a subscribing FHEI for Teaching, Educational Research or Academic Research, and not for commercial gain. - Dissertations and theses produced by students who are undertaking officially recognised courses of study in a subscribing FHEI. - Poster sessions produced by staff or students undertaking officially recognised courses of study within a subscribing FHEI, to illustrate particular Teaching, Educational Research or Academic Research projects. - Web sites illustrating Education Research or Academic Research projects prepared by staff or students undertaking an officially recognised course of study at a subscribing FHEI and who are registered users. These documents may be published either in paper or electronic format. However, different size restrictions apply to each type of media. These sizes are detailed below. PAPER PUBLICATIONS The following table sets out maximum permitted image sizes for circulation on paper. These apply to OS maps produced directly from Digimap and to maps created from OS data downloaded through Digimap. Paper publication type Dataset Maximum image Notes size per publication Conference Papers All datasets 1250 cm2 Any single image from Strategi, Meridian 2, 1:50,000 Scale Colour Raster Land-Form PANORAMA, 1:25,000 Scale Colour Raster, Land-Form PROFILE, or 1:10,000 Scale Colour Raster must not exceed 625cm2 (A4) Academic Articles All datasets 1250 cm2 Any single image from Strategi, Meridian 2, 1:50,000 Scale Colour Raster Land-Form PANORAMA, 1:25,000 Scale Colour Raster, Land-Form PROFILE, or 1:10,000 Scale Colour Raster must not exceed 625cm2 (A4) Working papers and All datasets No size limitations course notes Dissertations and All datasets No size limitations theses Poster sessions All datasets No size limitations ELECTRONIC PUBLICATIONS The following restrictions apply to the sizes of OS map extracts taken from the Digimap service and to images created from downloaded Ordnance Survey data when included for circulation in electronic form. More than one image may be included but no single image may be of a size greater than specified above. Source scale is the scale of the source information from which the map was digitised. You may include a map in your publication at any scale, so long as the map would be no larger than the specified size if it was mapped at the source scale for the product used. The table below shows the corresponding area on the ground for each of the maximum mapped areas specified above.
