Sean Longfield

I work as a Science Manager for the Environment Agency, and I manage a team of 15 scientists delivering the national programme of research on flood risk.  In some respects I’ve now come full circle since my time as a PhD student at Leeds University and back into the world of research.

My current role is about providing the scientific evidence base, tools and techniques needed by practitioners to reduce flood and coastal erosion risk, and so provides me with the best of both worlds where I can bridge the gap between research and practice.
