ENVGE0092 - Trainee Technician

Fixed Term for 3 years

As a member of the School of Geography's technical team, you will provide analytical and general support within a busy teaching and research facility. Within the role you will be expected to train in Health and Safety techniques, general laboratory techniques and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). You will also be expected to undertake training in several labs across the campus.

A well-defined three year training programme will be agreed and it is expected that study will take place for an appropriate qualification on a time release basis. This is an ideal opportunity for applicants seeking to start a geography-based career as a laboratory technician.

You will be a highly motivated individual, who is educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) with at least 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including at least one science subject. You will have excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to work carefully and accurately, using your own initiative.

University Grade: this role is situated on the trainee scale (£13,621 p.a, increasing to £15,814 p.a during third year)
