ENVGE0087 – Research Assistant

Job Summary

Fixed term contract for 6 months

You will contribute to the project: “Traditional Phenological Knowledge: Literature review and case study descriptions of cultural resilience in fire adapted ecosystems by Tribal College faculty in the Southern Rockies”.

You will work with the Principal and Co-Investigators on the development and testing of the MapMe tool for collecting information on relationships between people and landscapes. You will be required to use this tool, handle data output, generate basic reports on data obtained and adapt the MapMe tool to this project. You will also be required to analyse resulting data, assist in writing up project reports, contribute to journal articles and present results to a wider audience as required.

The purpose of this project is to generate a comprehensive literature synthesis and facilitate self-study among representatives from natural sciences and social sciences programs from several tribal colleges in the Rocky Mountain Region.

You should have a Masters degree or equivalent in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) or a related discipline. You should have experience in spatial analysis, statistics and handling large datasets, as well as good communication skills.
